No. 4 Wrestling Defeats WPI, 29-10, In Dual-Meet Opener
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Dec. 8, 2004 – Springfield College senior captain Scott Fay (Danbury, Conn.) improved to 18-3 this winter with a decision at 285 lbs. to lead the No. 4 Pride to a 29-10 win over WPI in wrestling action this evening in Blake Arena.
SC (1-0), which moved up to two spots in the latest Brute/Adidas Division III Coach’s poll, won seven of the evening’s 10 bouts en route to a win in its first dual meet of the season.
Junior Peter Marques (Massapequa, N.Y.) pinned WPI’s Ryan Amato in 4:55 at 133 lbs., while senior captain Brian Viglione (Chelmsford, Mass.) (174) and sophomore Ryan Pope (Mount Holly, N.J.) (157) each registered major decisions for the Pride.
WPI sophomore Peter Krzyzewski was credited with a major decision at 184 to lead the Engineers (0-2)
SC returns to action this Saturday (Dec. 11), hosting Norwich University at 1:30 p.m. in Blake Arena.
