SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 11, 2006 – Springfield College junior attacker Rachel Lampros (Boxborough, Mass.) scored five goals and assisted on another score as the Pride cruised past Smith College, 18-4, this evening at Benedum Field in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play.

For Lampros, the reigning NEWMAC Player of the Week, her hot streak continues. In SC’s past three contests, the junior attacker has netted 14 goals as she continues to lead the team with a total of 28 scores for the season.

Pride freshman attacker Heather Dobson (Longmeadow, Mass.) helped pace SC with four goals, as junior midfielder Lisa Thomas (Whitman, Mass.) had another solid game with three scores.

Freshman midfielder Meghan Wisell (South Burlington, Vt.) and senior midfielder Holly Carmody (Wayland, Mass.) each contributed with two scores apiece, as Carmody, who is now second all-time at SC in career goals, now needs just nine more goals in her illustrious career to become the new all-time leader in school history. Carmody is chasing Danica Ansardy, who played at SC from 1999-2002 and netted 143 career goals. Carmody currently has 135 career goals after this evening's game.

Smith sophomore goalkeeper Sara Smith registered 19 saves as the Pioneers fall to 3-8 overall on the season and 0-4 in the NEWMAC.

SC, which improved to 6-4 overall and 4-0 in the NEWMAC, will next travel to Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) for a non-conference match-up on Thursday evening, April 13th, in a 7:00 p.m. start.
