LEWISTON, Maine October 1, 2005 - Springfield College seniors Ashley Reves (Orchard Park, N.Y.) and Alesia Vaccari (Winsted, Conn.) each earned All-Tournament Team honors as the Pride finished second at this weekend's Bates Invitational. For Reves, it marked the fourth consecutive time this season that the opposite has landed on an All-Tournament team, as this is Vaccari's first All-Tournament honor of '05.

SC opened the Invitational with two solid victories on Friday evening, September 30, over Plymouth State (30-24, 23-30, 30-21, 30-26) and then the host school, Bates College (30-25, 30-25, 30-18). During Saturday's competition, the Pride started with a 3-0 victory over Colby-Sawyer (30-26, 30-21, 30-25) but then fell to Colby in a close, 3-2 match (30-32, 30-23, 30-24, 16-30, 11-15).

During the four matches, Reves led the way with a total of 61 kills, good for a 4.07 kill-per-game average. The co-captain also compiled 72 digs on the weekend, a 4.80 dig-per-game average. Vaccari tallied an impressive 172 assists in the four matches (11.47/game) and also racked up a team-best 10 service aces to garner a spot on the All-Tournament squad.

Junior libero Leah Hettrick (Meriden, Conn.) had a most impressive weekend for the Pride, totaling 130 digs in four matches (8.67/game) including a 40-dig match in the five-game loss to Colby on Saturday. The junior's 40 digs against Colby is just two off the school record of 42 that Hettrick set last weekend against Smith in the MIT Invitational.

After the 3-1 weekend, SC improves to 16-4 overall on the season as the Pride remains a perfect 4-0 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action. SC will next travel to Wheaton College for a conference match-up with the Lyons on Tuesday evening, October 4, in a 7:00 p.m. start.
