

BOSTON, October 8, 2005 - Springfield College senior Meghan Young (Hurley, N.Y.) ran to an overall finish of 16th out of 301 runners to lead the Pride at the Open New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston on Saturday afternoon, October 8. SC finished 32nd out of 44 competing New England teams.
Young captured 16th in the meet which featured the best Division I, II, and III teams from New England, as she was the sixth Division III runner to cross the line and first amongst all New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) runners. Young covered the rain-soaked course in 18:34, followed by freshman Lara Dalidowitz (Southington, Conn.) (182, 20:34) and senior Jessie Zaccaro (Washingtonville, N.Y.) (207, 20:57).
The Pride travels to Albany, N.Y., on Saturday, October 15, for the Albany Invitational in the last tune-up before the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships on Oct. 29, hosted by Smith College.
SC Top Five
Jim Pennington enters his 26th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2009-2010. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
