

Hay was sensational as she recorded a jump of 11.98 meters, or 39-3 3/4, a Springfield College record. Her best mark came on her second to last jump. For her efforts, Hay was once again named an All-American. Last year (2007), Nikki finished sixth in the same event,, when she also earned All-America status.
A native of Norwalk, Conn., Hay was seeded 10th in her specialty, the triple jump. Heading into the event, her previous best leap this season was 38-4 3/4.
Natalie Calderon from the Univ. of Redlands won the event with a jump of 40-10 1/4.
Jim Pennington enters his 26th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2009-2010. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
