

Springfield vs. Bowdoin Box Score
Northampton, Mass. -- October 20, 2007 -- The Springfield College women's volleyball team dropped a pair matches Saturday at Smith College in night at Day 2 of the Volleyball Hall of Fame Invitational Tournament.
With the two loss, the Pride enter the final week of the regular season with a 20-9 record.
The Pride dropped its opening match to Amherst in three games by the scores 30-28, 30-16, 30-24. Bethany Stosz (Amherst, Mass.) was the lone member of the squad to record double-digit kills as she hammered out 11 kills to go along with four blocks in the match. Aylene Ilkson (Baldwin, N.Y.) added nine kills and 17 digs in the match while Kelsea Hellyar (Fairhaven, Mass.) directed the offense with 35 assists to go along with eight digs.
In its second match, Springfield played Bowdoin for the third time in the 2007 campaign, and for the third time the match lasted five games. This time, Bowdoin got the best of the Pride as it topped Springfield, 30-18, 30-26, 28-30, 32-34, 15-11. Stosz once again led the way with 13 kills and eight blocks while Ilkson added 11 kills and 26 digs. Sarah Lang-Rodean (Mansfield Center, Conn.) recorded 10 kills in the match and teammate Heidi Yohe (Deer Park, Wash.) registered 27 digs.
For her efforts over the weekend, Ilkson was tabbed to the All-Tournament Team.
The Pride return to action on Tuesday evening when it hits the road for a conference matchup at WPI.
Joel Dearing will enter his 20th season as head women's volleyball coach at his alma mater in the fall of 2008. Dearing is regarded nationally as one of the sport’s best coaches and he has the resume to prove it. Dearing ranks in the top-10 in Division III history with a 638-293 (.685) overall mark in 27 seasons as a women’s volleyball coach.
