

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – November 14, 2006 – The Springfield College football team has been ranked #1 in the final New England Division III Coaches poll, released this past Monday. SC was ranked #1 in the first six polls of 2006, fell to #2 for a week, then rebounded to finish #1 in the final two polls.
Overall, 9-1 Springfield College amassed 131 points (including seven first-place votes), while 2nd-place Williams (8-0) had 128 (including four first-place votes). Curry (11-0) remained third with 115 points (and the remaining three first-place votes).
In addition, SC was ranked 15th nationally by both d3football.com, and Don Hansen’s Football Gazette.

Michael C. “Mike” DeLong ’74 enters his 28th season as a head football coach in the fall of 2009. He enters his 26th year at Springfield College alone. For the past 25 years (1984 through 2008, inclusive), he has been the head coach at Springfield, his alma mater.
