Women's Swimming and Diving Falls At URI, 164.5-133.5

KINGSTON, R.I. – November 10, 2007 - The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team fell at the University of Rhode Island on Saturday afternoon by the score of 164.5-133.5.

Emily Sheehan (Erin, N.Y.) touched first in the 1000 yard freestyle in a time of 10:57.29 and in the 500 yard freestyle in 5:20.74.

Moira Price (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) tied URI's Samantha Veccia in the 100 yard breaststroke in a time of 1:09.78 and also placed first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.62. Meredith Trumbull (Merrimac, Mass.) recorded a first-place finish in the 200 yard butterfly (2:17.90).

On the 1-meter board, the Pride swept the event with Erin White (Glastonbury, Conn.) finishing first with a score of 241.58. Teammates Michelle Reggio (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Melissa Nelson (Wallingford, Conn.) rounded out the sweep with scores of 230.39 and 224.47 respectively.

In the 3-meter event, Nelon claimed the top spot with a score of 222.97 while Reggio finished in second with a 221.55.

The Pride also won the 400 yard freestyle relay as the team of Kallie Pottle (Brewer, Maine), Sheehan, Lianne Nihan (Reading, Mass.), and Kelley Ockerbloom (South Yarmouth, Mass.) finished in a time of 4:00.52.

The Pride return to the Art Linketter Natatorim on Saturday when it hosts Wheaton College at 1:00 pm
