SPRINGFIELD, Mass., September 16, 2006 – Timothy Winn scored his squad’s first two goals in leading the Babson College men’s soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Springfield College this afternoon at Babson Park, Mass., in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match.
As a result, Babson remains unbeaten at 4-0-2 (1-0 in the NEWMAC), while Springfield is now 1-4-2 (0-1 in the NEWMAC).
A sophomore forward from Sutton, Mass., Winn led off the scoring just 14:50 into the contest, giving the Beavers a 1-0 lead. The game-winner was assisted by sophomore midfielder Shane Fogarty and senior back Gregg Robinson. The score was 1-0, Babson, at the half.
Winn would then score his second goal on a penalty kick at 58:05. The final tally of the match was produced by sophomore midfielder Juan Rodriguez at 68:50. His goal was assisted by sophomore midfielder Ignacio Martinez and freshman midfielder Chris Morris.
Springfield junior goalkeeper Ryan Driscoll (Wilmington, Del.) recorded four saves. For Babson, junior goalkeeper Chris Necklas produced a like number of saves and the shutout.
Up next, the Pride will travel to MCLA on Tuesday afternoon, September 19th, for a 4:00 p.m. start.
