No. 10 Wrestling Finishes Second At Petrofes Invite

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Dec. 8, 2003 – Springfield College juniors
Brian Viglione (Chelmsford, Mass.) and
Scott Fay (Danbury, Conn.) won individual championships to lead the No. 10 Pride to second place out of 13 teams at the Petrofes Invitational Saturday, hosted by Messiah (Pa.) College.
SUNY Brockport won the meet with 180 points, followed by Springfield (140), SUNY Oneonta (125.5), Ursinus (101.5) and Lycoming (92.5) to round out the top-five.
Viglione improved his record to 19-3 this winter with five-straight wins for the 174-pound championship. It was his second individual championship in two weeks as he also won the 174-pound title at SC’s Doug Parker Tournament last Saturday.
Fay was victorious in the 285-pound division after sweeping four bouts for a 15-3 record. This was also his second individual title of the season after winning the Ithaca College Invitational (Nov. 8). Fay entered the week ranked No. 8 nationally in the 285-pound weight class.

Andre Lee (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) (174) in sixth place; and sophomore
Ryan Horton (Dayville, Conn.) (174) and junior
Jerard Melito (Medford, N.Y) (157) in seventh place.
Freshman 125-pounder
Ryan Hannigan (Wyantskill, N.Y.) registered the invitational’s fastest fall, pinning Muhlenberg’s Mike Tenenhaus in :13 seconds.
