Rachel Lampros Named NEWMAC Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 11, 2006 - Springfield College junior attacker Rachel Lampros (Boxborough, Mass.) has been named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week in women’s lacrosse in an announcement made on Monday afternoon, April 10th.

Lampros, a graduate of Acton-Boxborough Regional High School, totaled 10 points of offense in a 1-1 week for the Pride. In a 20-16 loss at 10th-ranked Williams College (April 5), Lampros scored a career-high six goals. In a 13-8 home win against NEWMAC rival, Wheaton College (April 8), the junior midfielder added three goals and an assist to help the Pride stay atop the NEWMAC standings. Lampros leads the team with 23 goals and four assists for 27 points in nine games this season.

The Pride (5-4, 3-0 NEWMAC) will look to keep its undefeated conference record intact when it hosts NEWMAC foe, Smith College this evening, April 11th, in a 7:00 p.m. start at Benedum Field on the campus of Springfield College.

A former standout for Springfield’s women’s lacrosse team, Mullady returns to her alma mater to head up a program that went 12-6 and reached the conference tournament championship game a year ago.
