Wellesley Knocks Off Women's Volleyball, 3-1, In NEWMAC Semifinals

Springfield College to To Take Part in Miles for Myles Initiative on Nov. 8

Springfield, Mass. - November 4, 2009 - As a tribute to Myles Brand, the NCAA president who died on Sept. 16 as a result of pancreatic cancer, the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has created a MILES for MYLES initiative to be conducted on college campuses across the nation. A three-mile run/walk event for Sunday, Nov. 8 will take place at the Springfield College Track from 10 am to 12 noon. The three mile distance is representative of the three divisions of the NCAA. Pietras and Ferraro Highlight Men's Cross Country NEWMAC Honors

Springfield, Mass. - November 4, 2009 - The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its 2009 men’s cross country award winners on Wednesday. Springfield coach Peter Ferraro was named the NEWMAC Coach of the Year as he helped lead the Pride to a second-place showing at Saturday’s NEWMAC Championship, while Zach Pietras earned Rookie of the Year honors as the top freshman finisher. Football Returns to #1 Ranking in New England Division III Coaches Poll

Springfield, Mass. -- November 3, 2009 -- The Springfield College football team, now 7-1 overall and 3-1 in the Empire 8 following its big 47-26 win over Ithaca last Saturday, has returned to the No. 1 ranking in the New England Division III weekly coaches poll. It is the first time the Pride has been ranked No. 1 in that poll in six weeks. SC is also appearing in regional and national polls for the first time all season. Read more.

Springfield College To Induct Six Members Into Its Athletics Hall of Fame

Springfield, Mass. -- October 27, 2009 – Springfield College will induct the 37th class into its Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, November 7, during the College’s Homecoming Weekend festivities. The six newest members will be Paul Assaiante '80, Nan Duga Campbell ’01, Alton Doyle '49 (posthumously), George Hamilton ’58, G’63, ,Belinda Perry ’94, and Robert Piehler ’84. Read more.
