Matt Pieterse: Football

A local product from Springfield, Mass., Pieterse was terrific in the football team's 39-14 victory over visiting Husson.

The freshman linebacker tallied 13 tackles, including six unassisted stops, to go along with a forced fumble. His 13 tackles were seven more than the next highest Pride total in the game.

He leads the team with 38 tackles through five games this season. Pieterse is only the second freshman in head coach Mike DeLong's 25 years as a head coach to start at the all-important middle linebacker position at Springfield.
