Morgan Rein: Field Hockey

Morgan Rein
Morgan Rein has been named the Springfield College Female Maroon Club Athlete of the Week after leading the field hockey team to the victory over conference rival Wellesley on Saturday.

Rein, a native of Mystic, Conn., tallied a pair of goals as the field hockey team handed Wellesley its first conference loss of the season by a score of 4-2. For her first goal, Rein and teammate Becca Gamble created a two-on-one to pull the Wellesley goaltender off her post and Rein put the shot away to give Springfield a 2-1 lead. Rein completed her two-goal performance early in the second half, scoring unassisted off of a rebound, to stretch the Pride lead to 3-1.

Earlier in the week, Rein pitched in with an assist on Springfield's only goal in an overtime loss against conference foe, Mount Holyoke.

For the season, the senior co-captain has a team-best 10 assists and is tied for the team lead in goals with five. Rein has scored three game-winning goals for the Pride this year.
