Five Seniors Selected To NEWISA Senior Bowl

2008 NEWISA Senior Bowl Selections Springfield, Mass. - November 20, 2008 - After concluding their great careers at Springfield College as members of the women's soccer team, five seniors were recently selected to play in the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl.

Springfield had five players selected to participate as Sue Jenney, Delaney Cantrall, Lauren Peltier, Kayla Thibeault, and Nicole Hanewich, were all chosen for their outstanding play this season. Jenney, Cantrall, and Peltier were chosen outright to play in the game, while Thibeault and Hanewich were selected as alternates.

Much in part to the play of these five players, the Pride captured the 2008 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) title advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in four years, before bowing out in the second round of the national tournament.

Jenney was in fact the top vote getter for all goalkeepers eligible for participation in the game.

In conjunction with the game, a food drive is being held at the event, in an effort to help those less fortunate during the holiday season.

The game, which will take place at Salem State College, will occur on Sunday, December 7th. Kick-off is slated for 11:00 am.
