Game 1 Box ScoreThe two losses drop Springfield to 7-11 on the year, while the Jumbos improve to a perfect 17-0.
In the opener, the teams battled through three scoreless innings until Tufts scored runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to take the 4-0 win. Brynn Worrilow had two hits in the loss, while senior southpaw Samantha Rhodes took the loss as she gave up four runs on nine hits.
Springfield jumped on the board first in the second game as Michelle Wlosek singled in Angela Atkins in the top of the first inning. However, that would be all the offense that the Pride could muster as it was limited to just two more hits the rest of the game en route to falling 11-1 in five innings. Wlosek had two of Springfield's three hits in the game, while Jaimie Moran added the other.
Starter Megan Fitzgerald didn't get out of the first inning as she recorded one out, allowing four earned runs off three hits. Katie Anderson came into the game and gave up six runs, five earned, in two innings of work. Rhodes closed out the game allowing one earned run off four hits in 1.2 innings.
The Pride will resume play on Wednesday afternoon when it travels for a pair of games at Eastern Connecticut State.
