

Springfield, Mass. - April 28, 2009 - Eric Henne, who mainly played #6 singles for the Springfield College men's tennis team during the season, today earned First Team All-NEWMAC accolades as selected by the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference men's tennis coaches.A sophomore from Bristol, Conn., Henne had a marvelous season. He finished 10-3 overall. And that did not include two victories at No. 6 singles in exhibition match wins over a pair of college squads in Puerto Rico in March.
More importantly, Henne finished 3-1 in No. 6 singles matches, and 1-0 in a No. 5 singles match versus his NEWMAC competitors. And that did not include a victory at No. 6 singles in the NEWMAC post-season quarterfinal loss at Coast Guard on April 23.
Overall, Henne was 7-3 in No. 6 singles matches. He was an impressive 3-0 in No. 5 singles matches.
"Eric had a great season for Springfield College," said Head Coach Jamie Morrell. "We look forward to even more improvement from Eric in 2009-10."
As a team, Springfield finished 5-9 overall, and 1-4 in NEWMAC play in 2008-09.
Tim Losee ’05, G’07 was named the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College in August of 2009. A former four-year member of Springfield’s men’s tennis team, Losee returns to his alma mater to pilot both the men’s and women’s tennis programs. Read more.
