

Springfield, Mass. - October 25, 2009 - After another standout performance on the defensive side of the ball, Ken Goodwin has been selected as this week's ECAC Division III Northwest Co-Defensive Player of the Week, as well as the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week.The senior linebacker was outstanding for the Pride in its 35-7 win over conference-foe Hartwick on Saturday afternoon.
The Foxboro, Mass. native led Springfield with nine tackles, including five unassisted stops. Goodwin helped the Pride hold the Hawks to 25 points below their season scoring average. He recorded two tackles for a loss of 10 yards with a seven-yard sack.
For the season, Goodwin ranks second on the team with 49 tackles, including six tackles for loss.
From an ECAC standpoint, Goodwin shared these honors with Gerard Bryant, a senior defensive tackle from St. Lawrence University.

Michael C. “Mike” DeLong ’74 enters his 28th season as a head football coach in the fall of 2009. He enters his 26th year at Springfield College alone. For the past 25 years (1984 through 2008, inclusive), he has been the head coach at Springfield, his alma mater.
