

Springfield, Mass. -- March 21, 2009 -- Pat Vaughn, Ken Sloanhoffer, Andy Kelly, and Matt Bolognese were the featured performers as the Springfield College men's gymnastics team hosted MIT tonight on Senior Night at SC's Blake Arena. Springfield put together its highest score of the year with a 335.450 to MIT's 315.200.Springfield's previous high score was a 331.550 versus Temple on February 20.
Ty Evans and Josh Fox went 1-2 in the All-Around for the Pride. Evans finished with a total of 82.950 points, while Fox was directly behind at 82.850. In third was MIT's Boris Rasin at 80.850.
A Springfield gymnast won each event. Fox won a pair, the high bar (13.600) and the floor exercise (14.400). Evans won the vault with a 15.950, the highest individual score of the night. Mike Freundlich captured the pommel horse (13.750). Matt Bolognese took the still rings (14.700). And Andy Kelly won the parallel bars (14.500).
Springfield went 1-6 on the parallel bars. Kelly was followed by Evans, Kyle Bartgis, Fox, Matt Tocchio, and Vaughn. SC also went 1-5 on the vault. Evans was followed by Keith Stumpf, Fox, Sloanhoffer, and Josh Spencer. In the floor, SC went 1-4, as Fox was followed by Kelly, Evans, and Tocchio. In the high bar, SC went 1-4 as Fox was followed by Freundlich, Bartgis, and Vaughn.
The highlight event of the evening for MIT was the still rings, as the Engineers went 2-3-4. Rasin finished second (14.000), followed by Jake Shapiro and Brett Lazarus.

Entering his 28th season as head men's gymnastics coach, Dr. Steve Posner is recognized as one of the most outstanding gymnastics coaches in the East.
