Women's Volleyball Handles Hartwick and Hunter In Oneonta Invitational

Oneonta, N.Y. - October 2, 2009 - The Springfield College women's volleyball team opened up the 2009 Oneonta Invitational with a pair of convincing three-game sweeps of Hartwick and Hunter on Friday. Springfield, which now stands at 15-2 on the season, defeated Hartwick by the game scores of 25-21, 25-6, 25-5 and toppled Hunter 25-7, 25-21, 25-12.

Springfield, which is now 15-2 on the season, will face Skidmore at 9:30 on Saturday morning in its third match of the weekend.

In the opener against Hartwick, both Sarah Lang-Rodean and Kim Giaquinto posted nine kills, while Heather Lively chipped in with seven kills. Kelsea Hellyar handed out 33 assists in the victory and Meaghan Hart totaled 10 digs.

Against Hunter, Hellyar dished out 25 as both Lang-Rodean and Lively led the offensive charge with 10 kills apiece. Cassie Seymour added nine digs for Springfield as well.
