

Springfield, Mass. - March 19, 2009 - Senior Matt Bolognese was recently honored as the College Gymnastics Association USAG Division National Gymnast Of The Week after a standout performance on Saturday in a quad-meet hosted by Army.The Stony Brook, N.Y. native finished first on the still rings with a score of 14.95. In a meet that was comprised of Iowa, William & Mary, and Army, Bolognese was influential in the Pride's first victory over William & Mary in 27 years.
Overall, Iowa took first place in the meet with a score of 339.950, followed by the Pride's 328.650. William & Mary finished just behind Springfield with a 328.250, while Army took fourth with a 317.500.
Entering his 28th season as head men's gymnastics coach, Dr. Steve Posner is recognized as one of the most outstanding gymnastics coaches in the East. Posner, who has coached 135 All-Americans and 18 National Champions, led the Pride to another successful season in 2009. He has been named the NACGA Eastern Region Coach of the Year in each of the last two years.
