

Springfield, Mass. - May 19, 2009 - As he heads off to the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Steve Headley is poised for what could be a very memorable weekend. After already winning the NCAA 55 meter dash national championship earlier this winter, Springfield's ABC40 highlighted Headley's year leading up to this weekend's competition. Headley currently has the fastest time in the country in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.39. In the 200 meters, he is one of only three athletes in the country to have automatically qualified for the race. His time of 21.30 is third fastest among 17 entrants in the race. He will also run with his teammates in the 4x100 meter relay.

Ken Klatka, enters his 34th season as head coach of the men’s track and field program in 2009-2010. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 407 wins, 140 losses, and two ties for an impressive .740 winning percentage. Under his direction, Steve Headley '10 won two NCAA titles in '08-'09.
