

Box ScoreKeene, N.H. - September 9, 2009 - The Springfield College men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at Keene State on Wednesday evening in non-conference action. Keene State scored a goal in each half en route to the 2-0 win at Owl Athletic Complex.
Freshman Joe Senecal and sophomore Cam Blair found the back of the net for the Owls (2-2), who snapped a two game skid. Springfield College drops to 1-2.
Senecal gave KSC a 1-0 lead when he knocked in a rebound at the 20:09 mark. Freshman Shawn Shand had a chance to extend the Owls lead, but he was denied by SC freshman goalie Chris Walton, who stopped his shot by going airborne to deny his bid.
Sophomore Cam Blair scored a key insurance goal at the 79:17 mark of the second half when he buried a rocket into the far corner of the net to give the Owls a 2-0 lead.
Senior Peter Kersker made five save to notch his first shutout of the season for the Owls. Walton tallied six saves in goal for the Pride. The Owls had the advantage in shots (21-9) and corner kicks (6-3).
The Pride return home for its first home contest of the year on Saturday afternoon when it takes on Elms College at 3:00 pm.
Only the seventh coach in a rich soccer tradition dating back to 1906, Peter Haley '77 G '78 will be entering his 25th season of coaching at his alma mater in the fall of 2009.
