MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - September 16, 2008 – Middlebury continued its impressive 2008 campaign as they used four first half goals en route to a 6-0 win over Springfield on Kohn Field.

Middlebury, ranked fifth in the country in the latest national polls, struck first as Heather McCormack scored with some nice stick work down low. Chase Delano made it a 2-0 game at the 21:54 mark as she finished after a scramble.

The Panthers took a 3-0 advantage when McCormack scored her second on the game on the third shot of an offensive flurry. Allison Grant closed the first half scoring as she tipped in a pass from Delano .

The game remained at 4-0 for much of the second half, until Sophie Thompson scored on a backhander with 11:12 remaining. Thompson struck again less than four minutes later, putting home a rebound after a shot from McCormack was saved.

Caitlin Pentifallo was not forced to make any saves in 54 minutes of play, while Becca Shaw made a pair of stops for the Panthers. Kelleanne Salazar made a dozen saves on the afternoon for the Pride.

For Springfield, it was the first time in head coach Melissa Rogers' tenure that the Pride has lost back-to-back games. The last time that occured was in 2003.
