Shaw and Walgren Compete at New England ITA's

Cambridge, Mass. - September 19, 2009 - Both Amy Shaw and Kyla Walgren competed in the Division III Wilson/ITA Women's New England Region Championships hosted at MIT over the weekend.

Shaw lost both of her singles matches as she fell to Williams' Lucy Marchese, 6-2 6-0, before losing to Sarah Miller from Wesleyan 6-2 6-0 in the consolation round. Walgren also dropped a pair of singles matches as she lost to Smith College's Isabela Pal 6-1, 6-2 and then Brittney Faber from Middlebury, 6-0, 6-1.

Walgren and Shaw also teamed up for the doubles competition but had similar results. The duo fell to Nahrhree Han and My-Linh Nguyen from Mt. Holyoke, 8-6, in their first match. They then lost to Marie Watanabe and Nathalie Herman from Wellesley, 8-1, in the consolation round.

Head Coach Tim Losee

Tim Losee ’05, G’07 was named the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College in August of 2009. A former four-year member of Springfield’s men’s tennis team, Losee returns to his alma mater to pilot both the men’s and women’s tennis programs. Read more.
