Softball Falls To Both Endicott and Nichols In Second Day Of Rebel Games

Caitlin Corry Kissimmee, Fla. -- March 16, 2009 -- -- In its second day of competition at the 2009 Rebel Games, the Springfield College softball team dropped a pair of games to Endicott and Nichols on Monday. The Pride fell to Endicott, 4-0, before dropping a 4-3 decision to Nichols.

In the loss to Endicott, the Pride could only muster four hits as it lost by a 4-0 count. Caitlin Corry accounted for half of the Pride's hits as she went 2-3 with a pair of singles. Samantha Rhodes suffered her first loss of the 2009 season as she went the distance, allowing two earned runs off seven hits, while striking out four and walking two batters.

The Pride gave up a run in the top of the seventh inning as it fell to Nichols, 4-3. Megan Fitzgerald made her first appearance on the mound for the Maroon & White and allowed three earned runs while striking out six. She scattered nine hits and walked two in her collegiate debut. Brynn Worrilow connected for a double in the game and finished with two RBI, while Aimee Cassella added an RBI as well.

Springfield is now 1-3 on the young season. The Pride will play Millikin at 1 pm, then Nazareth at 5 pm Tuesday.

Head Coach Julie Perrelli

Julie Perrelli Julie Perrelli was been named an Assistant Professor of Physical Education and Head Softball Coach at Springfield College in June of 2009. The head softball coach at Smith for the past three years, Perrelli received both her doctorate (this past May) and her masters in 2004 from Springfield College, where she served as a graduate assistant for the Pride from the 2003 through 2006 seasons.
