

Worcester, Mass. - March 3, 2009 - For the first time in his career, Springfield College junior Pat Crean has been selected to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Basketball All-Conference team. Crean was one of five players chosen on Tuesday morning to the All-Conference First Team.Crean joined two-time NEWMAC Player of the Year Jimmy Bartolotta from MIT, Wheaton's Anthony Coppola, Coast Guard's Craig Johnson, and WPI's Jerome Kirkland on the first team.
A native of Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., Crean was a major reason why the Pride advanced to the NEWMAC Tournament Championship game for the first time since 2004-2005. The Pride's leading scorer with 14.5 points per game, Crean also led the team in assists with 85. He led the team in free throws made (114) and free throws attempted (167), field goals made (138), and ranked second on the team in steals (46), and minutes played (874).
In the Pride's final push at the end of the season when it rattled off five wins in its last six games, Crean was outstanding as he tallied 17.8 points per game and added 7.7 rebounds. He led the team in assists with 17 and added 11 steals while shooting 48.6% from the floor and connected on 36-of-49 (73.5%) from the charity stripe.

Charlie Brock in 2009-10 will enter his 12th season as the head coach at Springfield College. Brock’s achievements as a coach are certainly impressive, as he has taken three schools to the NCAA Division III Tournament and has an overall, 29-year record of 394-363 for a winning percentage of .520.
