Clapp, Martin, Sullivan Win At Cardinal Invitational
MIDDLETOWN, Conn., Feb. 8, 2003 - Springfield College sophomore thrower Matt Acciaioli (Warwick, R.I.) captured first place in the shot put (15.30 meters) and the weight throw (13.81meters) Saturday at the Cardinal Invitational hosted by Wesleyan University. There wre no team scores at the meet.
SC junior Blake Gulino (Old Saybrook, Conn.) lept to a first-place finish in the long jump (6.75 meter). Freshman Billy King (Wilmington, Mass.) exploded out of the blocks to first place in the 200-meter dash (23.28). The men's 800-meter run was won by SC's Bob Mateicka (Metuchen, N.J.) in a time of 1:58.52.
On the women's side, SC junior All-American Marisa Clapp (Charlton, Mass.) took home a victory in the 1500 meters (4:45.94) and a second-place finish in the 3000-meter run (10:27.12).
Sophomore sprinter Sarah Martin (Madison, N.H.) captured the 55-meter dash in a time of 9.15 seconds. Sophomore Leah Sullivan (Northboro, Mass.) won the women's shot put with a throw of 11.57 meters.
