Clapp Wins New England Championship In Mile

NORTHAMPTON, Mass., March 1, 2003 - Springfield College junior
Marisa Clapp (Charlton, Mass.) won the New England Championship in the mile with a time of 4:59.92 at the New England Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship at Smith College as the Pride finished 20th out of 27 scoring teams.
Clapp's time, which was also a venue record for the Smith College Indoor Track Facility, was the only time posted under the 5:00 minute mark in the event. Clapp, who's time was a personal best, earns a provisional qualifying spot in the NCAA Division III Championship.
