Clapp Wins New England Championship In Mile
Complete ResultsNORTHAMPTON, Mass., March 1, 2003 - Springfield College junior Marisa Clapp (Charlton, Mass.) won the New England Championship in the mile with a time of 4:59.92 at the New England Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship at Smith College as the Pride finished 20th out of 27 scoring teams.
Clapp's time, which was also a venue record for the Smith College Indoor Track Facility, was the only time posted under the 5:00 minute mark in the event. Clapp, who's time was a personal best, earns a provisional qualifying spot in the NCAA Division III Championship.

Head Coach Jim Pennington
Jim Pennington enters his 26th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2009-2010. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
