Women's Indoor Track And Field Finishes Third At Bowdoin
BRUNSWICK, Maine, Feb. 1, 2003 - Springfield sophomore Blake Gulino (Old Saybrook, Conn.) placed first in the long jump with an NCAA provisional qualifying 23-3.5 foot jump as the Pride finished fourth out of four teams at Bowdoin College Saturday afternoon.
MIT (197.5) won the event followed by Bowdoin (165), Tufts (151) and SC (132.5).
Sophomore Matt Acciaioli (Warwick, R.I.) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship with a second-place finish in the shot-put (51 feet 3.5 inches).
Senior Jason Jackson (Phippsburg, Maine) finished first in the 55-meter dash (6.52) and the 200-meter dash (22.41). Senior Adam Hughes (Bridgewater, Conn.) took third place in the 55-meter hurdles (7.83) and junior Pawel Jaroszewicz (East Longmeadow) finished second in the 200-meter dash (22.85)
On the women's side, sophomore Marisa Clapp (Charlton, Mass.) finished first in the 1000-meter run (3:04.01) and second in the 600-meter run (1:41.22) to help lift the Pride to a third place finish out of five teams with a score of 129.
Freshman Alisha Miner (Sanbornton, N.H.) placed first in the 400-meter dash (1:02.31). SophomoreSarah Martin (Madison, N.H.) finished second in the triple jump (10,19m) and finished third in the 55-meter hurdles (9.28).
