Women's Track & Field Wins Quad Meet

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., March 29, 2003-- Springfield College senior
Lauren Steinmuller (Yarmouth, Mass.) won two events as the Pride won a quad meet with Westfield State, RPI and SUNY Plattsburgh on Saturday at Blake Track.
SC (285.50 points) opened the outdoor season in convincing fashion. The Pride was followed by RPI (205.50), Plattsburgh (68) and Westfield (64).
Steinmuller placed first in the 100-meter dash (13.97) and the long jump (15 feet, 9 inches). She also finished second in the 200-meter dash (29.13) behind senior
Erin Pac (Farmington, Conn.), who won the event with a time of 28.80. Pac also finished first in 100-meter hurdles (16.43).
SC junior All-American
Marisa Clapp (Charlton, Mass.) dominated the 800 and 1,500 meters, clocking winning times of 2:22.99 and 4:52.17, respectively.

Jim Pennington enters his 26th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2009-2010. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
