Men's Golf Places 16th At Duke Nelson Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt., September 18, 2005 - Greg Levings posted a two-day score of 159, shooting a 79 on Saturday (Sept. 17) and an 80 on Sunday morning (Sept. 18) as the Springfield College golf team finished 16th out of 24 teams at the 22nd Annual Duke Nelson Invitational Golf Tournament, hosted by Middlebury College. Levings' team-best total of 159 was good for a 57th-place tie out of 120 competing golfers.

SC's Matt McCarthy and Mike Lajoie each carded identical two-day scores of 163, as the two both shot an 80 during the opening round and an 83 during Sunday's competition. After shooting an 85 on day one, SC's Andy Waght played well on Sunday, coming back with a solid round of 79 for the Pride.

Williams College won the Duke Nelson with a total team score of 598. Skidmore finished second at 601, and New York University placed third at 602 total team strokes.

The Pride will next compete in the Williams Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, September 24-25.
