Pietras and Ferraro Highlight Men's Cross Country NEWMAC Honors

Zach Pietras Springfield, Mass. - November 4, 2009 - The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its 2009 men’s cross country award winners on Wednesday. About The Team

Mike Griffin was named to the NCAA Division III All-Regional Cross Country team for the second straight year by finishing eighth of 330 runners at Harkness Park in Waterford, Conn. last November. He went on to compete in the NCAA Championships at St. Olaf Colege in Northfield, Minn.

The Pride has placed in the top three at 23 of 25 conference championships in which it has competed, winning seven team titles. The 2005 squad ran to a 17th-place finish (out of 43 teams) at the New England Regional Division III Championships, hosted by Springfield College.

Springfield College has received NCAA Division III Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team honors for eight of the last nine seasons. The award goes to teams that earn a cumulative grade-point average of 3.1 or higher.
