Illinois-Chicago Tops Men's Gymnastics, 205.550-198.050
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Feb. 16,2003 – Springfield College junior Jenny Romano-Joseph (Shutesbury, Mass.) tied for first on the floor exercise (9.575) and placed third in the all-around (35.775) but the Pride lost to West Chester, 184.025-181.550.
SC sophomore Jolene Woznicki (Warren, Conn.) took second (9.475) on the floor exercise and sophomore Amanda Roth (Bloomsfield, N.Y.) tied for third (9.325). SC junior Holly Desrocher (Methuen, Mass.) placed third (9.350) on the balance beam while senior Trisha Talerico (Rome, N.Y.) took third on the vault (9.275).
West Chester's Beth McGinty won the all-around competition with a score of 37.475.
On the men’s side, the University of Illinois-Chicago defeated the Pride, 205.550-198.050.
The Pride was led by junior Tim Goetz (South Plainfield, N.J.), who finished second in the all-around competition (49.550), and third on the still rings (8.600), the parallel bars (8.400), and the high bar (8.500).
SC junior Mike Smith (Salt Lake, Utah) took third in the all-around competition (49.400), and third on the parallel bars (8.400). Sophomore Nelson Jimenez (Salem, N.H.) placed third on the floor exercise (8.450), and third on the vault (9.000), and Freshman Antwan Webb (Hyde Park, Mass.) finished third on the pommel horse (8.200).
