

AMHERST, Mass., September 9, 2006 - Springfield College junior Ian Wright (Colonie, N.Y.) finished in 24th place overall, covering the 8k course in a team-best time of 31:11.3 as the Pride finished fourth at this afternoon's Amherst Invitational.
SC finished with a total of 94 team points, as Amherst College won the event, coming in with an impressive 18 total team points. Merrimack College was second with 58 points, and Wheaton College rounded out the top three with 68.
Coming in second overall for the Pride was freshman John DeVaney (Albany, N.Y.), as the covered the Amherst course in a time of 32:04.5. Right behind him was freshman Joe Gawlak (New Milford, Conn.) with a final time of 32:58.4, good for SC's third-place finisher.
Freshman Joe Locascio (Hebron, Conn.) was the Pride's fourth-place finisher and the meet's 32nd-place finisher, with a final time of 32:58.9. Senior Jon Freeman (New Milford, Conn.) filled out the top five for SC with a time of 33:16.5, good for 35th place overall.
The Pride will next travel to compete in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday afternoon, September 16th.
Peter Ferraro, a 2007 graduate of Springfield College, enters his third season at the helm of men's cross country team at his alma mater in the fall of 2009.
