Men's Swimming Finishes Third At Franklin & Marshall Invitational
LANCASTER, Pa., December 8, 2002 - Springfield College sophomore Megan Skinner (Acton, Mass.) finished first in both the 500-yard freestyle (5:12.98) and the 200-yard backstroke (207.28) to help lift the Pride women to a fourth-place finish in the Franklin and Marshall College Invitational this weekend.
Skinner teamed with junior Beth Byron (Haverhill, Mass.), junior Jessica Defoe (Monson, Mass.), and freshman Emily Phillips (North Windham, Conn.) took first place in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:04.84.
Defoe finished third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.09), and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (53.82).
On the men's side, sophomore Daniel Moran (Wilbraham, Mass.) placed first in the 200-yard butterfly (1:55.17) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:43.90) as the men placed third out of 13 teams.
Sophomore Luis Arruda (West Warwick, R.I.) finished first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:43.78, second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:45.98, and third in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:57.16.
Senior Craig Dolan (Edison, N.J.) swam the 200-yard IM in 1:57.02 to win the event.

Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and will enter his 25th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2009-2010. The current NEWMAC Men's Diving Coach of the Year, Avdoulos has coached countless All-New England and All-American divers, as well as several National Champions.
