Men's Swimming & Diving Tops Babson, 127-106
WELLESLEY, Mass., February 14, 2004 – Springfield College sophomore All-American Mike Shaw (Westfield, Mass.) won both the one-meter dive (287.40) and three-meter dive (303.00) as the Pride defeated host Babson, 127-106, on Saturday, February 14.
SC (6-5) sophomore Dan Moran (Wilbraham, Mass.) won two events on Saturday, capturing the 200 freestyle (1:51.13), and the 200 butterfly (2:01.55).
Pride junior Louis Arruda (West Warwick, R.I.) also took two events during the meet, as he won the 50 freestyle (23.10) and the 500 freestyle (4:56.12).
SC’s 400 freestyle relay team, which consists of freshman Chris LeCompte (Londonderry, N.H.), sophomore Ross Craig (Brookfield, Conn.), freshman Paul McCloskey (Brookfield, Conn.), and Arruda, won in a time of 3:21.49.
Other winners for the Pride included junior Tim Ryan (Hatboro, Pa.), who won the 200 individual medley (2:07.21), and LeCompte, who took the 1,000 freestyle (10:39.83).
The Pride will next host the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships from Friday, February 27-Sunday, February 29.

Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and will enter his 25th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2009-2010. The current NEWMAC Men's Diving Coach of the Year, Avdoulos has coached countless All-New England and All-American divers, as well as several National Champions.
