NEW YORK, Jan. 17, 2004 – Springfield College sophomore All-American
Mike Shaw (Westfield, Mass.) placed first in both the one-meter dive (283.37) and the three-meter dive (327.37) as the Pride defeated New York University on Saturday, 135-106. Shaw’s score on the three-meter board is a school record.
The Pride improved to 5-2 overall. SC junior
Louis Arruda (West Warwick, R.I.) won the 200 freestyle (1:48.74) along with the 100 freestyle (48.39). Other winners for the Pride included sophomore
Dan Moran (Wilbraham, Mass.), who placed first in the 1000 freestyle (10:10.27), and junior
Tim Ryan (Hatboro, Pa.), who won the 200 backstroke (2:03.18).
SC's 400 medley relay team of Tim Ryan, freshman
Ryan Mahoney (Westford, Mass.), junior
Blake Leshnick (Suffern, N.Y.), and freshman
Chris LeCompte (Londonderry, N.H.) finished first with a time of 3:45.78.
On the women’s side, junior All-American
Megan Skinner (Acton, Mass.) won both the 200 backstroke (2:10.52) and the 200 freestyle as the Pride defeated NYU, 139-101, on Saturday to up its dual-meet record to 8-1.
Springfield sophomore diver
Lacey Feduke (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) placed first in both the one-meter (253.65) and the three-meter dives (252.14). Other winners included senior
Jessica Defoe (Monson, Mass.), who won the 100 freestyle (53.87), and sophomore
Alicia Hart (West Hartford, Conn.),who won the 50 freestyle (25.80).
The Pride's 400 freestyle relay team of Hart, Defoe, senior
Claire Mueller (Newburgh, N.Y.), and Skinner finished first with a time of 3:47.15.
SC hosts Williams on Saturday, January 24 in a 1:00 p.m. meet.

Diving Coach Peter Avdoulos

Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and will enter his 25th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2009-2010. The current NEWMAC Men's Diving Coach of the Year, Avdoulos has coached countless All-New England and All-American divers, as well as several National Champions.
