No. 23 Women's Volleyball Too Much For WPI, 3-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept. 18, 2004 – No. 23 Springfield College swept the WPI Engineers this afternoon, 3-0 (30-10, 30-8, 30-13), in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference women’s volleyball match in Blake Arena.

Sophomore libero Leah Hettrick (Meriden, Conn.) collected 10 service aces, one short of the school record, to pace the Pride. Springfield (10-0, 2-0 NEWMAC) has won 31 of its last 32 matches, dating back to last season.

Junior All-American setter Alesia Vaccari (Winsted, Conn.) was credited seven kills and 23 assists. Senior outside hitter Christine Jones (Wallingford, Conn.) led the Springfield offense with eight kills.

The Pride compiled a .539 hitting percentage, while holding the Engineers to a -.108 average.
