Women's Volleyball Keeps Rolling With 3-0 Win Over Smith College
BoxscoreSPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Oct. 1, 2002 – Springfield College senior outside hitter Heather Schlitz (Huntington Station, N.Y.) registered 14 kills and 10 digs as the Pride defeated Smith College, 3-0 (30-20, 30-23, 30-23), in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women’s volleyball action in Blake Arena.
Springfield freshman Alecia Vaccari (Winstead, Conn.) was credited with 33 assists and 16 digs for the Pride (11-1, 3-1 NEWMAC), which handed Smith (9-3, 3-1 NEWMAC) its first conference loss of the season.
Smith outside hitter Kate Sorensen (Kelso, Wash.) totaled 11 kills and 13 digs in the loss for the Pioneers

Head Coach Joel Dearing
Joel Dearing will enter his 21st season as head women's volleyball coach at his alma mater in the fall of 2009. Dearing is regarded nationally as one of the sport’s best coaches and he has the resume to prove it. Dearing ranks in the top-10 in Division III history with a 670-298 (.692) overall mark in 28 seasons as a women’s volleyball coach.
