Christine Jones (Wallingford, Conn.) had 20 kills and 10 digs, while junior All-American
Ashley Reves (Orchard Park, N.Y.) tallied 15 kills and 23 digs to lead the third-seeded Pride to an upset of top-seed Coast Guard, 3-2 (17-30, 30-25, 30-22, 26-30, 17-15) in a wild New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Volleyball Tournament Championship match in New London, Conn.
Sophomore
Jody Pfeifer (Northglenn, Colo.) added 14 kills and 13 digs for the Pride (25-7), which earns its second-straight conference title and automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
The decisive fifth game featured 13 ties and both teams fighting off a match point. SC scored the final two points of the match for the victory.
SC also upset second-seeded MIT, 3-0 (33-31, 30-22, 30-17), on Friday night in the semifinals to reach its sixth NEWMAC Tournament championship match in the last seven years.

Joel Dearing will enter his 21st season as head women's volleyball coach at his alma mater in the fall of 2009. Dearing is regarded nationally as one of the sport’s best coaches and he has the resume to prove it. Dearing ranks in the top-10 in Division III history with a 670-298 (.692) overall mark in 28 seasons as a women’s volleyball coach.
