Women's Volleyball Wins Tom Hay Invitational
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Oct. 11, 2003- Springfield College senior middle blocker
Roxanne Breuler (East Haddam, Conn.) was named the MVP of the Tom Hay Invitational after leading the Pride to three wins and the team championship today in Blake Arena.
Breuler totaled 12 kills and a .391 hitting percentage to go along with five blocks in the 3-0 (30-26, 30-22, 30-28) championship-match win over Plymouth State.
Sophomore outside hitter
Ashley Reves (Orchard Park, N.Y.) compiled 13 kills and 14 digs in the championship match, while senior captain
Erica Webster (Cheshire, Conn.) earned All-Tournament honors with her 10-dig performance.
Plymouth (20-5) was led by senior outside hitter
Carin LaValley (Northfield, N.H.) who garnered All-Tournament honors after a 13-kill, 15-dig showing versus Springfield.
The Pride’s 22-2 record is its best start in 10 years under head Coach
Joel Dearing. His 1993 squad put together a
32-3 season, finishing in the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional Championship match.
