Women's Volleyball Wins Johnson & Wales Invitational
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Sept. 16, 2002- Springfield College freshmen setter Alesia Vaccari (Winstead, Conn.) was named tournament MVP after leading Springfield College to the team championship of the Johnson & Wales Invitational Tournament. Vaccari collected 147 assists during the tournament as SC improved its overall record to 8-0 on the season.
Senior outside hitter Heather Schlitz (Huntington Sta., N.Y.) was also named to the all tournament team after notching 51 kills for Springfield during the two day tournament. The Pride defeated Wheaton College in the championship match, 3-1 (30-24, 30-27, 27-30, 30-16).

Head Coach Joel Dearing

Joel Dearing will enter his 21st season as head women's volleyball coach at his alma mater in the fall of 2009. Dearing is regarded nationally as one of the sport’s best coaches and he has the resume to prove it. Dearing ranks in the top-10 in Division III history with a 670-298 (.692) overall mark in 28 seasons as a women’s volleyball coach.
