No. 25 Women's Volleyball Sweeps Four Matches For SC Invitational Crown
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept. 4, 2004 – Springfield College junior libero Leah Hettrick (Meriden, Conn.) was named tournament MVP after leading the Pride to four victories and the team title at the SC Women’s Volleyball Invitational today.Springfield College junior swing hitter Ashley Reves (Orchard Park, N.Y.) compiled 19 kills and 14 digs while junior setter Alesia Vaccari (Winsted, Conn.) totaled 16 kills and 27 assists to lead the Pride to a 3-1 (30-26, 27-30, 30-25, 30-20) win over Brandeis University. In SC’s second match of the day, Reves’ 13 kills, 14 digs, and .414 hitting percentage were the difference as SC downed Western Connecticut State, 3-0 (30-13, 30-22, 30-22).
Vaccari and Hettrick joined sophomore middle blocker Jody Pfeifer (Northglenn, Colo.) on the All-Tournament Team. Hettrick was the team’s top defensive player, averaging 3.77 digs per game, while Pfeifer led SC with a .410 hitting percentage for the tournament.

Head Coach Joel Dearing
Joel Dearing will enter his 21st season as head women's volleyball coach at his alma mater in the fall of 2009. Dearing is regarded nationally as one of the sport’s best coaches and he has the resume to prove it. Dearing ranks in the top-10 in Division III history with a 670-298 (.692) overall mark in 28 seasons as a women’s volleyball coach.
