SC, Williams Advance In NCAA Women's Volleyball Regional

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Nov. 14, 2003 - Springfield College sophomore opposite Ashley Reves (Orchard Park, N.Y.) registered 15 kills, seven digs and five service aces to lead the No. 24 Pride to a 3-0 (33-31, 30-16, 31-29) victory over Colby-Sawyer in the second round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball New England Regional in Blake Arena.

Springfield (34-2) will take on Williams College, which was a 3-0 winner over Western Connecticut in the night’s other match, on Saturday (Nov. 15) at 7:00 p.m. in the regional championship match at Springfield.

Senior middle blocker Roxanne Breuler (East Haddam, Conn.)totaled 14 kills, while sophomore setter Alesia Vaccari (Winsted, Conn.) was credited with 38 assists and nine digs for the Pride, which won its school-record 21st consecutive match.

Sophomore middle blocker Anne Coulter (Hudson, N.H.) returned from a sprained ankle in Thursday’s first-round win over Bridgewater State, to lead Colby-Sawyer (24-11) with 13 kills.

Williams 3, Western Connecticut 0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Nov. 14, 2003 – Williams College sophomore outside hitter Annie Denison (Portland, Ore.) totaled 16 kills and 16 digs to lead the No. 24 Ephs past Western Connecticut State, 3-0 (30-25, 30-16, 30-), in the in the second round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball New England Regional hosted by Springfield College.

Junior outside hitter Robin Young (Andover, Mass.) added 11 kills and 14 digs, while freshman setter Alexis Knepp (Austin, Texas) chipped in 42 assists for the Ephs, ranked No. 22 in the latest AVCA Division III national poll.

Sophomore outside hitter Lindsey Gloster (Middletown, N.Y.) totaled 13 kills and 13 digs for Western Connecticut (25-7), which was making its fifth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
