MIT Upends Women's Volleyball

Leah Hettrick (Meriden, Conn) was credited with a match-high 32 digs, but MIT was still able to get past the Pride last night in New England Men’s and Women’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women’s volleyball action, 3-1 (30-26, 28-30, 30-19, 30-26).
Senior outside hitter
Christine Jones (Wallingford, Conn.) added 14 kills for the Pride and sophomore middle blocker
Mary Kathryn O'Neil (Liverpool, N.Y.) was credited with 13 kills.
The Engineers improved to 19-6 on the season and remain tied with Coast Guard for first in the conference with a 7-0 NEWMAC record. SC fell to 17-6 and 5-2 in the NEWMAC.

Head Coach Joel Dearing

Joel Dearing will enter his 21st season as head women's volleyball coach at his alma mater in the fall of 2009. Dearing is regarded nationally as one of the sport’s best coaches and he has the resume to prove it. Dearing ranks in the top-10 in Division III history with a 670-298 (.692) overall mark in 28 seasons as a women’s volleyball coach.
