Men's Basketball Downs Curry For First Win, 67-55

MILTON, Mass., November 29, 2005 - Springfield College junior forward Damian Farley (Natick, Mass.) led the way with a double-double, scoring a career-best 21 points to go along with a career-high 13 rebounds as the Pride rallied past Curry College, 67-55, for its first win of the season on Tuesday evening, November 29, in Milton, Mass.

After a very close first half in which neither team led by more than five points, Curry College (1-2) held a 33-31 edge at the break. The second half was all SC, however, as the Pride outscored the Colonels by a 36-22 margin to take the game, 67-55. In the second stanza, senior guard Derek Yvon (East Longmeadow, Mass.) scored 15 of his 19 total points to help seal SC's first victory.

Senior forward Mike DeCesar (Acton, Mass.) chipped in with a double-double on the night, adding 12 points and 10 rebounds in the winning effort. Curry's James Bartelle led all scorers in the contest with 22 points for the Colonels.

SC improves to 1-3 overall on the season as it will next compete in the Pioneer Valley Classic this weekend, hosted by WNEC. The Pride will face Amherst College on Friday evening, December 2, in a 6:00 p.m. tip-off, and then square off with WNEC at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, December 3.
