No. 15 Western Conn. Holds Off Women’s Soccer, 2-1
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Oct. 1, 2002 – Springfield College senior forward
Amanda Conk (Montclair, N.J.) scored her first goal of the season but 15th-ranked Western Connecticut State upended the Pride, 2-1, this afternoon in a non-conference match-up at Brock-Affleck Field.
Western Connecticut senior forward Cherie Bailey (Middletown, Conn.) scored on her own rebound off the post for the game-winner in the 90th minute of play. Bailey opened the scoring early with a goal off of Heather Bartholomew’s (Bethel, Conn.) cross in the 4th minute. The Colonials move to 7-2 on the season.
SC midfielder
Laura Harwood (Longmeadow, Mass.) recorded her first assist of the season on the Conk goal. The Pride fall to 2-6.
Springfield College is back in action on Thursday, October 3 when it hosts Wesleyan University at 4:00 p.m.
