Women's Soccer Plays WPI To A 1-1 Tie

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., October 7, 2003 – Springfield College junior forward
Leeann Morris (Sutton, Mass.) scored the lone goal of the game for the Pride as SC tied WPI, 1-1 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women’s soccer match this afternoon.
Morris’ goal, which came in the 23rd minute of play, was assisted by Springfield junior midfielder
Molly Desroches (Belchertown, Mass.).
WPI sophomore midfielder Mary Desrosiers tied the game in the 38th minute of play with an unassisted goal.
SC sophomore goalkeeper
Christina Davis (Orange, Conn.) saved four shots during the match.
Morris nearly broke the game open with six minutes left to play in the second half, as her shot hit the cross bar from 30 yards out.
SC moves to 5-5-2 on the year, and 2-0-1 in NEWMAC play. The Pride will be at home on Saturday, October 11, against fifth-ranked Wheaton in a 2:30 p.m. match.
