Mount Holyoke Defeats Women's Soccer, 3-1

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass., October 14, 2003 - Springfield College junior forward Jessica Kovacs (Dalton, Mass.) scored the lone goal of the match for the Pride, but it wasn't enough as Mount Holyoke defeated Springfield College, 3-1, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer match on Tuesday.

SC sophomore goalkeeper Christina Davis (Orange, Conn.) saved nine shots during the match.

Mount Holyoke's Sarah Gardner scored on Kate Porter's corner kick in the 76th minute of play to put the game away for the Lyons (4-7-1).

Springfield falls to 5-7-2 on the season, and 2-2-1 in NEWMAC play. The Pride hosts Wellesley on Saturday, October 18, at 1:00 p.m.
